I felt like sticking something on my journal since my profile is mostly empty, so I figured I'd write just a few quick impressions on what has come up in the last few days regarding the Nintendo 3DS and a particular game.

===

First off is this 3DS peripheral thing that adds a right-handed circle pad and more shoulder buttons. Frankly when I first saw it I thought it looked ridiculous, but as I took a moment to look at the size of it compared to the 3DS on my desk, it doesn't seem quite as unwieldy as I thought, adding just over an inch to the right side of the system as far as I can tell.  I already have to hold my 3DS by my fingertips in order for my thumbs and fingers to rest in the right spots so a little added girth isn't going to bother me and dual analogs are always nice.

However, most importantly, if it doesn't have two features then I will be severely disappointed in Nintendo: a locking mechanism and a battery pack. The locking mechanism is because the existing 3DS charge cradle simply rests on the bottom of the system and will fall off if pressure is not constantly applied. The battery pack because even at my modest energy settings I can't get more than 3-4 hours out of the existing battery.

Anyway I'll be interested to see how Nintendo decides to market it, and I hope it's not going to be more than $20 maximum.  On to the next subject.

Along with the leak of the 3DS peripheral was Monster Hunter Tri-G (or 3G) for the 3DS.  Now, at first I was annoyed because it seemed like another silly port when the 3DS's weak lineup is already getting saturated with them, but the more I've seen the more I like. New weapons (new to Tri, anyway), more monsters from other games in the series (including recolors, it seems), including a completely new monster for the title, and online play with a completely new quest hub.

Frankly this has me excited, since I've played the original Tri to death and even more content is just up my alley.  However, the biggest concern I have at this point is Capcom. They have been less than tuned-in to their Western fans lately, and I'm seriously pensive about them possibly not localizing this game. Needless to say that if it happens there will be tremendous rage.
